My Story – Our Capital. Women raise awareness of violence and mobilise against stigma and silence

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Violence Protection Centre in Upper Austria, WwB’s founder and chair Edit Schlaffer presented WwB’s newest gender-based violence (GBV) initiative, ‘My Story, Our Capital’, which is currently being piloted in Austria and Kosovo. Schlaffer’s key message was that violence prevention measures must be prioritised, and this starts from the bottom-up, by breaking down stigmas and taboos around talking about GBV.

WwB’s ‘My Story, Our Capital’ project provides a space and platform for women to come together and share their experiences, concerns, challenges, all through using the powerful medium of storytelling.

We are grateful to the Gewaltschutzzentrum in Upper Austria for inviting WwB to contribute and share more about our work in GBV.
