The November 2008 Mumbai attacks killed 183 people, destroyed landmarks, and created a climate of fear in India and around the world. In response, Women without Borders (WwB) created ‘Surviving Terror’, a short documentary that features victims and survivors of this catastrophic event. Drawing on its Sisters Against Violent Extremism (SAVE) network of activists, WwB organised a conference that brought together women from different parts of the world to create a new architecture of peace, based on negotiation, understanding, and reconciliation.

The SAVE network invests in the power of women to shape societies, the world, and our future. It is the first global anti-extremism platform for women who are committed to fight extremism through community-based approaches.
