Women without Borders (WwB) attends the Joint Regional High-level Conference convened by the OSCE, UNOCT and Switzerland, and in cooperation with the 2020 Albanian OSCE Chairmanship entitled “Foreign Terrorist Fighters – Addressing Current Challenges” in Vienna. The two-day regional conference provided an inclusive platform for dialogue and sharing of information, experiences and expertise among government officials, UN entities, regional and international organisations, community and civil society actors. The objective was to promote cooperation and partnerships to advance implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and the UN Secretary General’s Key Principles for the Protection, Repatriation, Prosecution, Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Women and Children with Links to UN -listed Terrorist Groups, including analysis of pertinent UN Security Council resolutions 2178, 2396 and 2427.

The regional conference was preceded by a one-day civil society workshop on 10 February in which WwB also participated. The workshop was a dedicated opportunity for participating representatives from civil society in cooperation with representatives from the United Nations, national governments, regional organisations and other stakeholders to reflect on their experiences related to the evolving threat of foreign terrorist fighters, including on returning and relocating foreign fighters and their families.
