Under the ‘Take the Future Into Your Hands’ initiatives, over 550 women across 23 coastal villages received training and different skills, with the aim to help them start their own small businesses and become economically independent. Batched into groups of five, women were given training in skills like making toys, candles, ropes, as well as wiring plastic bags, hammocks, chairs, and bags. The efforts of WwB extended beyond the production of goods, and helped the women to find a market. Many of the goods went on to be displayed and sold in the local markets and in their own shops.
