In an effort to give voice to women who have suffered from violent extremism, Women without Borders (WwB) held a discussion in Vienna on 3 Nov. 2005 with author Swanee Hunt to present her book ‘This Was Not Our War – Bosnian Women Reclaiming Peace’. In the 1990s, Hunt interviewed women affected by the conflict in Bosnia and documented their lives before, during, and after the war. The book sheds light on these women’s fight to save their homes, protect their children, preserve their bodies, and rebuild their societies.

Speakers:

Swanee Hunt: Hunt is the former US Ambassador to Austria (1993-1997) and is the founder of Inclusive Security: Women waging Peace, an organization which lobbies for the active participation of women in peace processes.
