2020 Chairmanship OSCE-wide Counter-Terrorism Conference

Women without Borders (WwB) attends and participates in the 2020 Chairmanship OSCE-wide Counter-Terrorism Conference. The opening session offered an opportunity for member-states, civil society, and other stakeholders to discuss and assess the “state of play” of international co-operation and co-ordination in the context of preventing and countering terrorism and VERLT in the OSCE area. Participants explored ways to strengthen international, regional, and sub-regional co-operation and effective crisis communication, in particular among law enforcement agencies, intelligence, criminal justice and other relevant institutions to better address emerging challenges while protecting and upholding human rights and fundamental freedoms.

As part of Session II: Building a Broader Community Network to Support the Prevention of Violent Extremism and Radicalization that Lead to Terrorism, WwB Founder and Executive Director Dr. Edit Schlaffer delivered keynote remarks, drawing on WwB’s decades of experience in building up and deepening community and trusted partnerships in the field of preventing violent extremism. Dr. Schlaffer spoke about the importance of strengthening these networks from the bottom-up, starting at the grassroots level, as the foundation for moving closer to a whole-of-society prevention approach and building resilient communities as the basis for peaceful societies.
