The 2008 Mumbai attacks wreaked havoc in India and contributed to an environment of fear globally. Women without Borders (WwB) noticed how imperative it was to bring together Indian and Pakistani women to overcome hostilities and build shared understanding. Founder and Executive Director at WwB Dr. Edit Schlaffer spoke at TEDxWomen in December 2012, alongside Arshi Saleem Hashmi and Archana Kapoor, to share experiences about what bringing women together looks like, and presenting the impact it can have. Arshi Saleem Hashmi, who specialises in religion and violent conflicts, is Assistant Professor at National Defence University (NDU) Islamabad. Archana Kapoor, a longstanding local implementing partner of WwB, directs Women Initiatives for Peace on South Asia (WIPSA).
